Thanks Janelle (Not you sis)

Hello everyone. I know it has been a while since the last post and we have had lots of experiences since then. We had a long travel day from Kalampaka to Athens then to Piraeus then to Bari (Italy) and then a spur of the moment movement to Lecce. My cousin Janelle had suggested it and wow it is a really really beautiful place and there are very few tourists. We came here at 1 pm without and apartment and made the long walk from the train station to the touris office. We arrived in full siesta time (1:30 to 4:30 nothing happens), the streets were deserted and the only person we could find in the office was an Italian who eventually made us understand that we should come back at 4.

We got an amazing appartment for 50 euros (a little expensive), but there were two leather couches 3 cots and a double bed and a kitchen and full bathroom and spices and a balcony. I missed having a kitchen so we had fun cooking pasta and omelettes. >We were also 1 block from the main square.

The city itself has beautiful architecture and and really fun people who love to help. We took a train trip to the coast where we found out our eurail is not vaild everywhere and had to pay a little fine to another Italian guy who spoke no english. The coastal city of Otranto was really cute and the beach was really nice and shallow. We have had really good food meat and potatoes, knocked the socks off greek food.

We will give food its own paragraph specifically GELATO and PASTRIES. We had some amazing gelato that was undescribable and pizza and pastat yum yum yum! yesterday though dasha and i whipped up a best of italy pasta with chicken and apple it was better than restaurant food.

This weekend was festival weekend. The was some energy summit. On Saturday night there was a free show which can only be described as cirque du soleil like but it was outside and full of confeitti. Sunday was historical open house day. So we visited mansions and other historical houses and saw really cool designs and architecture. We were always impressed!

Our biggest adventure came yesterday when we woke up and had only 1.17 euros in our pocket and went to the bank machine to find out all the cards were not working. After a really big adventure which if i had time would have a whole post to itself but i dont so lets just say victoria day made it a little harder and the lack of phones and phone card usage. Anyways Im rushing now. But we have cash and it will be quickly fixed. On to Naples today for more adventures and good food and amazing architecture even if expensive. Oh and more Grappa and italian wine!

We want to move here

Ciao
