We haven't been in Germany long but I have already figured out that they love their food (especially meats). Yesterday we went to this cute little german beer garden where we got to try a meat platter (one sausage, one liver meatball, and one pigstomach meatthingy) topped with gravy and sauerkraut. It was delicious and a little shocking for us who had not had meat in so long (budget travel means a slice of mortadella is meat enough).
We visited a small town called Annweiler which prides itself on keeping the houses in typical german architecture (despite being completely demolished in WWII), and there we had some gelato which was cheaper and just as good as the italian stuff! We are in the middle of the German Weinstrasse (Winestreet), so we are surrounded by vinyards, and very close to the blackforest.
We have been very well recieved by Dasha's aunt Vika and therefore overstuffed. We have dropped off a whole load of stuff (papers, Tsipouro, pictures) and will most likely be on our way tomorrow to Luxemburg and Belgium before meeting up with my parents in Versailles.
