We arrived in rome and Dasha managed to negotiate a room for 50 euros a night! We celebrated this with some delicious African food (not like the romans do but there were a lot there) and wine. Dasha continued her money saving activities by discovering that the Vatican museum was free on the last sunday of the month!
The next day after our complimentary breakfast we rushed to the vatican and stood in line for 45 minutes before finally getting in (the door was too small for all the people so a line grows). We saw egypt, rome, greece, mesopotamian art and sculptures and other things. then we saw everything else that the vatican had that was religious, mosaics, tapestries, paintings, scepters, crosses, etc. it was like 10 museums in one and free! We then saw st peters basilica from outside because the heat and humidity had squashed us and we were way too tired to continue and just went home and slept for 12 hours.
Today we visit the colleseum! and other parts of ancient rome and we will have more gelato to cool off. Its already really hot!
Our next stop will be Florence for which we leave tomorrow.

There is so much to see in Rome. I am sure you will have found your visit short. Enjoy Florence.. It is a smaller city with great architecture.

Rainy day in Perpignan, but lots to enjoy in Cathar country! Need Dasha's connections to Apollo to clear the skies! Enjoy Florence - so much to see and a very walkable city to explore.
If you are still in Florence, you might want to check out the monastary behind Santa Croce church (need to walk all the way behind) and see artisans at work. Cost of purses, jackets....(500 euros +). Hope Cinque Terre is as great for you as it was for us. Como was a disappointment - we suggest Magiorre or Garda. Enjoy Venice!!!
We are now in Carcassonne - there's a hostel inside the medieval city walls and prices are fairly cheap because there are few tourists this year. We're getting good deals on accommodation! Lotsa love XOXOXOX
