Well, hey everybody this post might have been about some great big news but mom and dad have already spread the joy. For those out of the loop Dasha and I have gotten officially engaged while in Mariupol, and we had a great time with the grandparents and the most expensive Ukranian champagne (14 dollars...), it was really delicious. I had a great time in Ukraine and am really looking forward to the rest of the trip where we get to be independant.
We got treated like royalty and fed excessively (to the point where stephy is not allowed snacks anymore :( ) but I'll survive the food here is delicious we had an authentic greek salad and pita with chicken; it was super good (especially after the chicken and rice from ukrainian air, we had a lovely 4hr ride on a tiny propeller plane). On the plane I managed to get some real Fanta that doesnt taste like the north american stuff, just like i remeber it being when i went to belgium.
We are slightly language shocked right now as we only know about 6 words in greek. Last night after getting to our hostel (which is beautiful top floor private room and warm sun) we went for a walk and realized we dont know any greek... After finding a very nice waitress who was willing to watch us struggle with pronounciation and replied to us in english, we had a good meal and then walked back for an early bedtime of 8pm. Today will include a visit to the beach and not much else seeing as it's sunday and everything is closed (and we can't talk our way into anything else). Monday will likely include the acropolis. We will be here for 2 more nights (and possibly a third if we choose so). We get free internet but we also get free sunshine so the blog takes second place. Hello to everybody back home and hope everyone is well.

Hey Stephane and Dasha . . . Fantastic News. Marcy and I are very happy for the two of you and are looking forward to giving you both a BIG Hug and Congratulations on your engagement when you get back to BC. Another Heineken Beer Keg is in order Steph. . . :-)) Sounds like Greece is warm and sunny, just what the doctor ordered. Watch out for sand in those sensitive areas and wear lots of sun screen. Love to you both and have fun . . . Cheers Auntie Marcy and Uncle Steve.
Stephane and Dasha!!! Hi there from south of the 49th. CONGRATULATIONS to the 2 of you!!! We are so very excited and happy for you. I was in Pullman helping Sarah pack up her dorm room when we heard the news. Sarah sends her congratulations and best wishes as well. We are looking forward to celebrating in person at the end of your travels!
Enjoy Greece...I spent 5 weeks there in 1974 and have very fond memories. It is high on my list of places to return to. There really is something to be said for the beauty and magic of the Mediterranean - the torquiose sea and sky - the Greek culture and the awesome food - mmm wanting to go back soon...
All the best...Deb & Geoff (and take Steve's advice about the sunscreen!!! I had my worst sunburn there!)
Congrats again Stephy and Dasha :) Glad to hear that you guys are having a great time. In a strange way you'll learn to enjoy and find comfort in the language barrieres. Eventually it'll become like a game "guess what the foreigners are saying" cept you guys are the foreigners... tee hee.
Well time to study for finals! Lots of love and keep having a good time!
Congratulations once again Stephane and Dasha :D We need to get together sometimes when you guys are back!
FÉLICITATIONS!! Wishing you all the best and enjoy the rest of your trip!
